Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds...10/05...@ The 9:30 Club.
I saw them once before on their last US tour (about 6 years ago?) in NYC. They were great of course, but the venue was seated and I was a bit to far back for my tastes. So I've been waiting for them to come back to the 9:30 Club so I can get there super early and nab a front & center spot for the show.
YAY!

I am really, really starting to hate Hillary Clinton and her apparent eagerness to destroy her party in her mission for personal success.
Seriously, the McCain campaign should hire her as their PR spokesman, what with all the praise she's lavished on the man at Obama's expense. Guess what Hil, if you run an "experience" campaign against McCain you WILL lose.
Obama needs to get his hands a little dirty and hit her back...enough of this "without violating the positive, uplifting spirit at the core of his message" crap. I want to see every Obama adviser, pundit and campaign spokesman refer to Clinton as "McCain's new press secretary" from now on.

So I think I need a girlfriend...if only to change things up for a while. My gut says I'm fine the way I am, but my brain says it would probably do me good.
But the problem is I never seem to meet anyone new. It always seems to be mostly the same folks at the club nights (or, at least temporarily, club NIGHT) I go to.
And if this weekend proved anything it's that going to any of my friends' parties is like drowning in a sea of couples, and increasingly married couples.
Add this to the fact that most everyone I've ever "met" online turned out to be bat-shit insane and...well...I've pretty much surrendered the search for the past few years.
So, while I approach the idea of casual dating with some trepidation and the idea of blind dating with something akin to abject terror, if anyone out there has any single, female friends who you think could potentially be a good match...well hook me up ;-)

So...I finished school (again) recently.
Start the full-time work thing next week. While I am looking forward to the leisure of a 40-50 hour work week, it'll probably cut into my Thursday night outings significantly.
And I'm looking for someplace to live. While I'd rather live with people (for the company & the savings), I'm not really up for moving in with some random folks off Craig's List.
So, dear friends, if you have an extra room, or are unhappy in your current living situation and looking to move, let me know (a couple of you I've already had brief conversations about possibilities). I'm getting sent to Mexico (yay) the 2nd week of January for work, but will really start looking into the issue when I get back.
I've been told by numerous former housemates that I'm the best housemate they've ever had...I'm clean but not anal, pay my bills on time, and keep out of business that doesn't concern me.
So let me know...

Spent the week in Connecticut doing the Thanksgiving thing...also made it up to Foxwoods for a few days for some poker and came out about $1,800 up.
The first day went pretty horribly actually...I got knocked out in two consecutive tournaments by hands I was 95% or better to win before the river. The second one was a small stud tournament...never really played stud before but I discovered I really like it and seem to be pretty good at it. I placed 5th after my full house (10s full of 7s) got busted as another guy hit the CASE king (last king in the deck) to make Kings full of sixes.
Anyway, the second day went much better as I entered a $100 hold 'em tourney and won! 1st place baby! $2,500 pay out.
Third day I played some Omaha 8 or better...which is confusing as hell. I didn't really know what I was doing.
So pretty good over all...this was supposed to be the litmus test on whether or not I was going to attempt a run at going pro after graduation, but it was such extremes of high and low, I'm not really sure how to take the results.
